MOTION PASSED

Tom Rinehart asked Chad to give us some information on the Ghin handicap system. Chad said mentioned that with the Ghin handicap it would give us a true handicap. We would be able to take this handicap and play in other tournaments that require a true handicap. We would be able to enter our own scores after every round at any golf course and not depend just on NBGA events. There would have to be some changes such as playing the ball down and only use the 14-club rule. Tom mentioned that it would add $20.00 to our annual dues if we were to decide to use this. It was decided that more research would be done before a decision was made.

Mike Cobb was asked to speak on behalf of Landa Junior Golf. The equipment that they currently have is over 10 year old and needs replacing. Chad said that each set of clubs will cost approximately $120.00 each. They need club replacements for various age groups. Tom Rinehart made a motion to add junior golf to our donations for this year and give 1/3 to Poss, 1/3 to Cole and 1/3 to the junior golf program amending the first motion. John Clish second

MOTION PASSED

Mike Cobb made a motion to give the former officers a $25.00 give certificate for their services in 2014. Robert Wallace seconded

2nd QUARTERLY MEETING OF MEMBERS

April 25th 2015

The Quarterly Meeting of the members of the New Braunfels Golf Association (Association) was held at 9 a.m. on April 25, 2015.
A quorum of the officers and members were present.
Mac Landrum, president, called the meeting to order and the following business was transacted:
The minutes of the last Quarterly meeting of the Association were approved.

The Treasurer's Report was made and approved. A donation of $1,000.00, $333.33 to each of Life Raft, LPGC Jr. Golf, and Family Promise was approved, leaving a balance of $3,420.76.

The Tournament Director, John Poss gave his report. First, comments were made regarding etiquette on the golf course. The Tournament Director asked all members to be aware of and follow proper golf etiquette on the golf course, including score keeping.
Comments were made about golf club throwing, golf club throwing is prohibited, it is unsafe and unsportsmanlike behavior. Any member reported for club throwing may be removed from membership, under the Bylaw procedures, by review and decision of the officers.

Next the Tournament Director brought up the issue of slow play. At whatever level of golfer you are, you are required to keep up the pace of play and encourage other golfers in your group to keep up the pace of play. The PGA pros at our course are telling us our group is too slow, so we must remedy slow play. A long discussion followed with no easy fix other than to play faster and not fall behind.
Lastly, the question of becoming a GHIN club was discussed; it would cost each member an additional $25.00 per year. No decision was made.
Old Business: Golf Pro from Starke Park expressed appreciation for chair donations.
New Business: None.
The meeting was adjourned by Motion and Second.
